My idea is to setup a network of canals and solar powered pumps which will delivery sea water from coastal regions of the Sahara to a network of solar stills spread out. The distillate will then feed into a network of fresh water which will fill reservoirs and water towers.

Crazy adio quality. Akmost sounds like u barried a mic in the sand, nice vid. I wander if you could make a few solarstills to accumalate enough water to sustain life for two or three people for longterm buggingout

Is the color of the plastic important? If you don't have a plastic can you use something else to distill water?

@AMNBOSSTOO Grow up dude - the guy knows his stuff!

i could make one in 10 minutes, but id be fucked up after it

one you dot need tate bug to make that a selefan and a small pot do the job

@BogMonkey53 Their is already a network of water, its in the currents of air. It might be easier to just run a colling tower running off solar power to pull water right out of the air and avoid the need to build canals.. You might even be able to use non-electric solar power to pull water out of the air, maybe a long enough shaft into the earth and a specially designed chimney might work, that's how termites do it..

@AMNBOSSTOO Then Don't Watch! Thank you for wasting 9 min and 14 seconds of your life!

People misunderstand this concept. You've created a still, yes. However all it does is help you extract water; if there's no water to be had you've just wasted time! This is only useful if you can find substantial amounts of wet soil, in which case you probably won't need to use it!

That's true, Also being in the South West you have take into consideration how deep is the water? I don't recommend digging more than a few feet. Wasting valuable body fluid in 118 degree temps is not smart. I know for a fact that in this particular spot the water is 6 feet in the ground. There are other places to find usable water that is closer to the surface. That is why I said it is up to the individual to incorporate this as a part of there plan.

I will do a follow up video on this in summer to give a better idea of this particular method. Now that I have a better camera it will also be a good Idea to revisit some of my older videos. Myself I am not a big fan of the solar still.
