http://www.frostnixon.com - Frost Nixon Interviews - Clip 5 - Nixon "If I intended to cover up , then believe me, I'€™d a done it."€ "€œDo you know how I could a done it? So easily?" Paraphrased: Simply by giving clemency to everybody after the election. "€œAnd the whole thing would'€™ve gone away."

When discussing the legacy of a failed presidency, nothing could be more relevant, engaging or important than the series of interviews that David Frost conducted with Richard Nixon in 1977. Following a three-year political silence, the series drew the largest ever TV news audience and granted the American people a tacit admission of guilt from the former president.
With the Ron Howard film (adapted from the Tony Award® winning play) opening in theaters on December 5th, there will be unprecedented interest in the real thing. Frost/Nixon

  • I don't like his politics or methods, but I do respect the man. I'm happy the Frost/Nixon movie portrayed him as a decent man who made some bad mistakes, because that's what he is.

  • The only difference between Nixon and any other sitting U.S. president was that he got caught.

  • @BelfastAtheist I..the..but..uhm..what??

  • Cambodians this, Cambodians that, it's just like today with the Arabs, WHO GIVES A F*&K! NOOOOOOO other country will catch us if we fall, Cambodians died, big deal, we have americans dying every hour, every minute. I wish stupid Americans: democrates and republican will just learn to care about us and only US. Cry over Cambodians, if you died in their country they wouldnt give you one thought

  • The Khmer Rouge killed the people, Nixon didn't.

  • @krutmin

    Some ''Bad mistakes''?

Jesus Christ, you cannot be serious. The hundreds of thousands of Cambodians dead? The thousands dead in the illegal (Fully secret) war in Laos? The fact that not the Army pilots dropping the bombs had their guidance hardware hacked midway in flight so that even they thought they were dropping bombs in Vietnam? You know absolutely nothing about this man, or what he did.

  • I kinda fell bad for nixon, because he made so many incriminating statements in the heat of the moment,,....its kinda funny though

  • 500,000 Cambodians dead--yes, of course, it was simply a mistake.

  • Nixon was the fall guy for the utopia.

  • Despite his Watergate woes, Nixon, in his later years, finally got the respect and admiration of most Americans. And he earned it without taking "the easy way".

There had never been a gesture of contriteness on his part. The people yearned for Nixon to ask for forgiveness, so that they could forgive, but he would not. Never had.

It helped, of course, that he lived long enough. Passions cooled, he mellowed, his enemies died off. He wasn't, after all, remotely like Hitler or Stalin.

Americans want to be proud of their Presidents, and Nixon was one of them. He had done some good, some bad, as they all had.
