2005 Diamond Challenge Sculls

For men - eligible single scullers of any club, at least ARA Senior 1 status. 16 entries. Winner keeps his own "pineapple" cup, a tradition since 1850

Palmer took an immediate lead - Coventry was warned frequently for his steering. Both scullers held on well, with Coventry challenging hard from Remenham, Palmer being warned as he approached the finish

W.R. Allen (Princeton TC, USA) bt A.F. Warnock (Glasgow RC)
Postponed to 19.25 due to Warnock's having broken a scull. Allen sculled quickly and smoothly into a comfortable lead that he developed throughout - despite Warnock's finishing challenge

Final

Allen led from the start, comfortably sculled away and controlled throughout, allowing Palmer to close along the Enclosure
