Hannah Ford is a 19-year old Chicago-based drummer who has been called one of the best up-and-coming young drummers in the country. In 2006 Hannah won the Louie Bellson Heritage Days Drum Competition (the only girl to ever do so) and the "Outstanding Jazz Musician" award at the New Trier Jazz Festival in Chicago. In February of 2007 Hannah was once again recognized with an "Outstanding Musician" award at the annual "Jazz in the Meadows Festival" in Chicago. Closing out the year Hannah won the "Best Drummer/Musician" category in Suburban Nitelife Magazines's "Best of the Burbs" readers poll, an accomplishment she achieved again in 2008.
Over the past few years shes performed in the Chicago area with the criticallyacclaimed local fan-favorite, Universal Slim and the Blues Kangaroos while her current performance projects include The Hannah Ford Band (Rock Power Trio), Pandorum (Fusion Power Trio) and her one-woman Peace, Love & Drums multi-media show.

  • as a female drummer, i usually tend to stick up for other female musicians. but this is just mediocre...no groove. not thats shes bad...shes no better than any other average drummer out there.

  • @Scooter43able The problem here is not that she is good or not, it is the positive discrimination she got. At my point of view any discrimination is bad. And she certainly plays well, but a hand full of people can play that and will never be able to play in a clinic and this because they are guys. Unfortunately this is more a marketing hit than a helpful clinic for other musician.

  • @JewLoco You are right on the money!Good-looking people can get away with JUST about anything, and it doe'nt matter if they're drummers, lifeguards or rocket scientistsI!!

  • She's a very good drummer. This is not the best song to judge her by. Don't confuse beat displacement for mistakes or hesitation. (there a few minor mistakes, I agree). The micing for this song was terrible.

  • she is great!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Scooter43able The talent is where?? this girl is crap. Do you want to hear talent in a female drummer? Emmanuelle Caplette, Sheila Escudero, Hillary Jones, Cindy Blackman, just to mention a few. This girl is boring, hesitating and average in a good day. It is a mistery to me how she gets so much attention, and also a shame that with so many good female drummers out there, this one is all over the net giving girls a bad name in drumming.

  • If I had a stage dad to manipulate the media (along with cleavage) I'd still be ashamed to have my stuff posted if it were of this caliber. The sad thing is I wonder if she truly believes she's as good as her dad tries so desperately to make everyone think she is? Her video of her "first" clinic performance at the Chicago Drum Show has comments disabled. Too many negative comments = turn off the truth/feedback. Tell you what, let us know when she's booked into Snug Harbor in NOLA.

  • @oaktubs i understand that i am exploiting the fact that i am a female in my titles. that is the point. its a fact that female drummers are rare, and it draws more attention to my videos. i do not expect to have people think im "awesome" just because i put it in the title. i just did it for views. im trying to get my art out there like everyone else. i appreciate your opinion.

  • @iheartdrumsfl Make you a deal, will fully listen to and respect your drumming when you quit titling your videos "awesome girl drummer"... "Awesome" is a title best given by others, and, last I checked, women being equal to men means that "girl drummer" is not really necessary. Come on.

  • @carotteaubeurre I completely agree. No one would give her the time of day if she were a guy. 'good looking" people get the spot light and true musicians are thrown to the side. Ever heard Britney Spears voice without auto-tune? God help us.
