Oobleck is liquid-like substance made from water and pure cornstarch. When you touch it, at first it's liquid-but then you find it hard to pull back out. It's almost like molasses, but it's really fun to play with!

oobleck is cornstarch + water. its a non newtonian fluid (see wikipedia's entry on non newtonian fluids). when force is applied to the oobleck it turns to solid temporarily, which is why they can run across

They will sink if they stayed in too long.

Because if they go slowly they sink in. If they go fast it acts like a solid.
