I musicisti sono bravi ma... la cantante è... meravigliosa!

L'incipit è molto simile al "Iam moriar, mi Fili" (mottetto per soprano tratto dal "Selva morale e spirituale") sempre di Monteverdi. Vero?

The way she sang the piece is very authentic for the time, as the instruments also are authentic. Lamento di Arianna is the only surviving piece from the opera Monteverdi wrote that sadly has been lost to time. The mere fact that this song has survived is a testament to the power of Monteverdi's beautifully charged, emotionally fulfilling music.

the opera was written in 1608 and the lament was the star turn, then as now. don't know how 1623 comes into it. best regards, fiery

Voi di musica ne capite meno che zero. La solita invidia ed ignoranza della gente. Come si suol dire "Gente che parla solo perchè ha la lingua in bocca" in questo caso "Scrive solo perchè ha le mani per scrivere". Grandissima Silvia Piccolo continua così.

Finalmente il vero "recitar cantando"! Non più lo statico e compiaciuto esercizio della "bella" voce fine a se stessa, ma il trionfo su tutto della parola e dell'emozione.

Proprio come Monteverdi volle e prescrisse...
