This is new Infrared Communication from IrDA. It is nothing like an old IrDA. 1Gbps data is just a second to transmite. What can you do with this kind of speed. Check out more at www.irda.org

  • i'm not sure that's possible yet only in usb 3.0 no way can you send it over the slowest connection there is infared

  • Infrared communication comes along way since 90's. IrDA's new spec is called IrSimple (or IrSS)and over 50% of portable phones have it. Aquos TV and Fujifilm digital camera has IrSimple so that you can take a picture using a camera and shoot it to Aquos and there is a picture! It literally took less than a sec. The old stuff is gone!

  • Wow, where can I buy that?

  • This is not yet available but we will see this product by the end of 2008. Stay tuned.

I saw the actual demonstration and it was really fast. I wish I have this feature in my cel.

  • @aikidy That's the theoretical bandwidth of the system. Either way the data could be buffered in the receiver device and sent at maximum possible rate to the host at a later time. So there are no fakes, just limited mindsets.

  • this is FAKE how the mobile phone memory can't write at faster that 12 mb/s (the best ones)...so how does this phone writes data at 1 gbps and how the computer hard disk reads this fast since for max speed its around 80 mb/s ???

  • Actully I do have one question. What is the max distance this new IrDA can transmit data?

  • Why won't IrDA die? Yes, one 1Gbps, given, impressive. Here is what is bugging me. I notice you have alot of bulky equipment there. Cat6 (or 5e given the distance) hooked up to your docking station, I would assume. Now, why not just make a RJ-45 adapter that would hook up to the phones Mini-USB?

  • please do more research b4 saying anything is fake...

  • I like your imagination! Fasten your seatbelt because you will see this technology soon. New specification from IrDA has gotten a lot of media coverage. It is called Giga-IR specification.

  • What Hitachi phone is that???
