This is a lot of help. My maltese is about to have puppies and the father is a poodle. And since I've never helped a dog, let alone a maltese, give birth, this video really helps a lot.

it was the sac.. the puppies are attached to an umbilical cord which is attach to a sac. You have to cut the umbilical cord then discard the sac =)
