Join Host Veronica McClure in Woodstock, CT for a weekend commemorating the parties held at Balmoral Castle. This short version of the film by Soso R. Whaley gives the uninitiated a look at the resurgence in popularity of Victorian dances. Step back in time and enjoy a kinder, gentler period waltzing and country dancing on a summer evening. Music is provided by Scottish Fiddlers Anne Hooper and Barbara McOwen and Spare Parts featuring Bill Matthiesen on piano and Liz Stell on flute.
Looking for a way to combine socializing and exercise? Country dancing is not only fun, you get a great work out for your body and your brain. knickers on Victorian men, do tell. Yes, stuff your skirts with Charmin if you must, but spare us the flacid appearance of improperly worn hoops. This looks like it needs to be in the Ozarks.

I was already fully paid and ticketed for this event, plus $300 into my wardrobe for this event and she canceled my reservation and sent my money back because she decided that, because I was traveling alone and discussing my wardrobe ideas with her, that I should not go. She felt I was not capable of traveling alone and decide for me that I would "not enjoy it", that I would not be interested or experienced enough for the dancing aspect even though I was.
Glad i did not miss too much.

Some people like the whole "period" feel... it's like a continued theme-costume party for everyone... with dancing. I prefer the contemporary dress... but we have an American Vintage dance group where I live and I participate just because I love to dance... and it's great that they do at least some Scottish dances.

why not make ti more contemporary?------during the 1940
polish soldiers were stationed in Scotland----so now you are justified to learn the Mazur in its more contemporary form.
