@YurioPaws Make sure the mask is applied to the layer, then press M (twice) on the layer, it should appear.

for some reason when i release on the ellipse tool and then double click on the ellipse icon

nothing happens like at 1:38 you can clearly see the ellipse. Whereas for some reason for me the screen just remains black. Any idea why that is?
