A very nice version of an old Serbian patriotic song. Legendary primaš, vocalist, and band leader Dušan Jovanović recorded this track in 1925 with his "Orao" tamburica orchestra.

  • Listen everyone - Zrinski was just making an honest comment that he didn't know this was a Serbian song until I posted this record. And he was obviously referring to the melody and not the lyrics. His statement reflected the fact that he wanted to know more about the history of the song and melody, but instead of providing him with information, you've forced him into defending a position that he didn't even hold in the first place.

  • I'm sorry Zrinski that I didn't respond earlier to your comment. I should have known that it would be misunderstood.

  • As far as I know this is originally an old Serbian patriotic march from around WWI. I don't think there's any debate over that really. It's interesting because these old marches were almost all inspired more by western compositions and don't really sound Serbian or Croatian in my opinion.

  • If anybody has any information about the history of this song and melody please post it here.

  • zrinksi , get out of this uploading business and focus ur energy in ur croatian music ,

  • @kozobar

    1) It was the 2nd Balkan War, when cavalry was first massivelly used in battles by the Kingdom of Serbia;

    2) Croatians are inspired by either Serbian or Italian, German and French; while Serbs used more from Russia, aswell as Montenegrins did :)))

    With love from Cettigne :)

  • Бој се бије ,сам што Србин више као некад није,затрова нас комунизам и смрдљив комшилук.

  • e ustase jos malo

  • @kozobar

    Brate,je s' ti Srbin?

  • @kozobar this is serbian old song from 1918.... when serbs were libaration Serbia.... sorry about bad writing....

  • @StokaSR Now we are getting forward ;) I think thats nice:)

I had only heard the Zlatni Dukatis -croatian language- version until Kozobaric uploaded this old serbian version. I made the mistake of saying so also noting that it is one of my fav songs... big mistake....instead of spending time uploading music- yes, perhaps Serbian music- I have had to waste time trying to get people to understand..

  • @zrinski Okay, take it easy, I'm no nationalist, but I just didn't seem to get what was going on here. If that's the case then I am fully supporting you.

  • @StokaSR And yes of course I have something against your people. If by your people you mean the nutcases that have commented here-except Kozobaric- then yes...If you mean the serbian people...no..not the ones that have learnt something from the idiocracy of the last 20 years. That seems not to be the case with the commenters here.

I hate you so much that I upload your music and I hate you so much that I hate my relatives boyfriend that happens to be serb. Sure...

  • @StokaSR My anger stems from the exact point the uploader of the song, Kozobaric, makes...that I have to defend myself from positions that I don´t even hold just because you people -commenting here- deliberately or by total ignorance just cannot understand what I am writing I think you would be angry as well if you had to defend postitions you don´t even hold. I thnk it is time that many of you try and wrest yourself from the terrible stranglehold that extreme nationalism seems to have on you.
