Tuesday marked the 30th anniversary of the second-worst prison riot in U.S. history: a riot at the New Mexico State Penitentiary that killed 33 inmates.

Why would anyone possibly think this was an "horrendous event?" If prisoners want to kill each other, I suspect most couldn't care less. Instead, more would likely agree the deaths or other harm done to those monster's many victims was really the horrendous events. Of course, news broadcasters quickly forget the victims.

I saw this fucked up shit awhile back on Gangland but I have heard about it like 20 years ago form rhe band Exodus on the song called "The last act of defiance".This had to be so bad even for third world country prison riots.But hey,at least they fucking spilled some blood of a few child molesters!

I saw the footage of this prison on Gangland today and remembered one of my

dad's friends was locked there at the time of the riot.The details that I have heard over the years puts a chill down my spine! How could people decapitate other people and play with the heads like a bowling ball? The darkest side of humanity!

@dodgedart74 Actually the snitches part isn't true. It turns out the prison guards just named other inmates as snitches. The guards used it as a way to control uncooperative inmates and it backfired. What resulted the masscre of a bunch of inmates that weren't snitches at all. Throw the overcrowding, the unhealthy food and living conditions, nonexistent communicationbetween inmates and guards, and the police guard brutality it's no wonder a riot broke out.

The lack of convictions cant be a massive surprise. Those snitches in cell block four would have suffered less if they had been captured by Terrorists. So no testimony from anyone would have been offered with any great zeal. BUT I have heard some of these guys on TV face-to-face ratting themselves out. These guys in Santa Fe make Tommy Silverstein look like a model inmate. And as Ramsey Yousef said of Silverstein.."That guy is REALLY crazy"
