I am 3 wks after surgery for a grade 3 AC seperation, the bump is gone and replaced with a scar and i would take that swap any day! ive been moving my shoulder now and can see myself making a "near" full recovery. HAVE THE SURGERY! YOUR MAD NOT TO!

@hallascowboys Get it done to man..It's never too late..It can be costly but it's got to be worth it!

@hallascowboys I've had a second opinion with regards to surgery and I think I'm gonna go for it. I am a very active person both leisurely and at work and feel it's holding me back. The bones feel exactly like you said the rubbing together..Plus it looks and feels awful..
well, it's been 2 years, the op would be quite expensive and I don't want to deal with the down time all over again. I'm right handed, (this is my left shoulder) can still play tennis a couple times a week and am not in pain. It's hard to go back. Congratulations on your recovery! If I had to do it over again, I'd go with the surgery for sure..

If I had it to do over again, I'd have the surgery. It's been two years and I have full motion, and don't have any pain, but I have no real strength in the follow through. I can get it to a certain point and then it just feels like I have to rotate my shoulder in order to keep my arm moving upward. If you've ever experienced Bursitis, you know what I mean.

IF YOU EVER HAVE A TYPE III AC JOINT SEPARATION. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN IF YOU DOCTOR TRIED TO CONVINCE TO OPT OUT OF SURGERY. GO AHEAD AND DO THE SURGERY THE SOONER THE BETTER, UNLESS YOU WANT A BONE STICKING OUT YOUR SHOULDER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH PAIN. DOCTORS ARE TAUGHT THAT AC JOINT SURGERIES ARE FOR PREFERABLY FOR PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES BUT OBVIOUSLY IF YOU WANT TO BE AS MOBILE ON YOUR SHOULDER AS EVERYONE ELSE (INCLUDING ATHLETES) GO FOR THE SURGERY)
