So, I went from having this amazing potential future to, literally, in under a year living in a van I remember just the terror and fear How am I going to raise this baby? What am I going to do?

Melissa, mother of 2-year-old Rowan is just one story out of the thousands of families who become homeless every year in Seattle and King County.

Children and families are the fastest growing portion of the homeless population today!! The tragic effect on families is devastating to families, and communities around U.S.

  • God help this nation.

  • amazing!

  • Thank you for bringing this to my attention. This is a heart rendering story that helps me to remember so many things about being thankful and being available to help someone else. My best wishes for Family Services and this particular family - that they will continue to survive and thrive. God Bless.

  • Aww sweetie you make me wanna cry with this story. My family was homeless too with My mom, dad, me n my brother we "traveled" a lot :) lol.. Times get tough but as you showed it only gets better" God Bless You.

  • so inspiring...great video!

  • how beautfull your story all the very best for the future

  • Oh my gosh... I want to find this lady and help her.

  • Living in a van isn't that bad if you go about it the right way. It's not for everyone though. Proper way, get a van, get a job, turn the van into a mini-rv. Eventually put on a solar panel kit and bam, decent home. However again, it isn't for everyone. Too many people can't deal with the small space. Glad she got clean and back on her feet.

  • It's a reality for many these days.

  • Living in a van doesn't mean you were homeless, the van was your home! Living on the street means your homeless. I live in a van, I work and because my outgoings are so low i'm raking it in!
