LED Bulb Shootout

In this Clip Michael Kanellos, the Editor-in-Chief of Greentech Media, compares two LED bulbs. The first is from the dutch company Lemnis Lighting. It is the Pharox 300, which was one of the first bulbs on the market that screws into a regular light socket and that functioned like regular light bulb. The second is from the Florida-based company Light Science Group Corporation. The bulb is called the A19. It is sold under the EcoSmart Brand at Home Depot.

I bought a three pack of GE LED's sold at Costco. I put one in an outdoor lamp fixture with a transistorized dusk to dawn circuit. In less then a week the bulbs output diminished by 90 percent. Assuming it this particular bulb was defective, I replaced it with another and in one week it's output diminished by 90 percent just like the first one. The package claims it's ok to use their LED bulbs in transistorized dawn to dusk fixtures. We'll see if GE lives up to their warranty.
