  • im a 35 yo bloke, dont drink booze ,gym 3times a week ,rides my push bike to work but smokes 2 - 3 a day......the term 'junkie" has really woken me up about smoking..."habit "was the wrong word in my eyes, "junkie" has hit home ...when i get an urge to smoke, i say to myself, " dont be such a bloody junkie you idiot"...watching other people smoke helps me because i dont smoke and that use to be me so dont go back !

  • @MrANCHOVIES2 Fantastic - that's the effect it had on me - I didn't want to be a drug addict/junkie/smoker. I've been a non-smoker for four and a half years now - and it's so nice not to have to spend the money or go outside when no-one else smokes or have a horrible cough! Seriously - if I can do it, anyone can do it.

  • @pvpgirlmoes @kitchenladyful @zincfreud and everyone else - thanks for your kind comments and good luck. I'm still stopped and believe me, if I can do it, you can too. Julie

  • Just to let everyone know - it's four years tomorrow (21st Jan) since I had a smoke. Seriously, if I can do it - so can you! All of my friends, acquaintances, work colleagues, family laughed every time I said I wanted to quit. Just don't give up giving up - you'll do it in the end. Take care of yourselves. J

  • Make sure you don't confuse Alan Carr with the English Alan Carr or you'll be in for a nasty shock.

  • @thelexus It's actually ALLEN CARR - and he is English - now I daren't go look for the other one

  • When people tell me that they enjoy smoking I try to explain to them in the most unreformed manner I can muster, that the pleasure they experience is the relief of the withdrawal symptoms the previous cigarette created I am given a look of complete disgust. More over try telling a smoker that smoking creates all of the symptoms it relieves and the head goes firmly back in the sand. Smoking used to be the acceptable face of drug addition, not any more...

  • @Hammersmith80 - your comment would of made me roll another ciggy, but you are totally right,

the saying whats worse then a non-smoker?......an ex-smoker :) having stopped now in my 9th month, im even worse at my friends that still smoke, then my non-smoking brother

  • good video, i've stopped smoking now for, well this is my 9th month, i chain smoked for 24 years, then had to be rushed to hospital with liver and kidney failure and a lung infection, at 42 years old, i had my wake up call, i stopped smoking on the 26th april 2011, my lungs have gottern better and stronger, and will get better and better :) the nicotine is the easy bit to get rid of, its the habbit thats taken me the longest to try and get over, you need to wanna stop, more then you wanna smoke!

  • @thelexus I would argue the *comedian* Alan Carr is a damn sight worse than smoking, a pathetic overly camp in your face idiot, watching an episode of his show could easily put the quitter back to square one :)

  • @MrANCHOVIES2 Right, a habit is driving on the right, habits are easy to break we soon get used to driving on the left. Smoking is simply drug addiction but never under estimate the power of nicotine addiction I smoked for about 14yrs when I gave up I had no idea the extent of the brainwashing; it actually changes the way you think, it's quite unbelievable and one of the reasons the uninformted fail to quit. Remove the brain washing and you see the ciggy for what it is - lifeless dead material.

  • thank you for this so much....you are a very pleasant woman with a lovely voice..

  • unfortunately Allen Carr died of lung cancer :(

  • Have read the book seen the movie ... but i think i use the same method Allan Carr used to quit .............a hypnotist ...... yes a hypnotist reprogrammed his subconscious to not want to smoke its in his book

  • Don't bully yourself into quiting, respect yourself into quitting.

  • The way I quit smoking is I STOPPED LISTENING TO THE NON-SMOKERS!!! They're such haters and they really put smokers down way too much. I use to quit and after a few days I'd think they were right, I am a pathetic smoker. I can't quit. All that hate hurts your confidence and it makes it harder to quit without confidence, although they arrogantly think they're helping you by saying you're a disgusting, weak, suicidal murderer. I quit when I started telling non-smoker wisdom to go smoke itself!
