The thing I always questioned on this, did anyone notice that the eye in the Fellowship of the Ring was much different in appearance than the eye in Two Towers and Return of the King? Just a thought! xD

forgive my lack of knowledge in LOTRology, but is that really Sauron consciously seeing Frodo? or just a illusion from the ring? because if Sauron can see him there, seems like he would have been caught before they left.

@Ninje56 Good eye! lol. I see several differences. In all movies the flames alternate between emerging from the pupil and falling into it. In FOTR the pupil is inside a perfect circle of darker flames surrounded by brighter flames, while in later films it is inside solely bright flames formed into an actual eye shape. I don't think it's true that the difference is due to the fact that we don't see the peak of Barad-dur until later films. Recall Frodo sees that in his vision at Amon Hen.
