Heh, you should check out my client Vertical Life. I upgraded the minimap somewhat. Right-clicking on the minimap opens up a small menu, with buttons. Each button corresponds to an avatars name, clicking them opening up their profile.
Fixed the problem of megaprims as well, and added 'depth shading'. So the minimap makes a bit more sense, instead of pure grey blobness.
