Also from the Ames, Iowa Straw Poll event today. Michigan Congressman, Thaddeus McCotter, made it official he's seeking the nomination for the GOP candidate to run against Obama in 2012. He sat down with FNC's Bret Baier for a brief interview after today's event.

For those of you unfamiliar with McCotter's personality, just Google "Thad McCotter" and "RedEye." He's acquitted himself quite well there, as someone who's a serious candidate, as well as an uber-intellectual. Oh, and did I mention how hip he is? Again I encourage you to Google for videos of his appearances on various programs. He's late to the game, but he's definitely not a flake. I wish him well, and like Herman Cain, I think he would make a great cabinet pick for the GOP winner in 2012. He's a serious guy, but not too serious. He's got the political and policy chops to do big things in the future.

He may not do anything big in 2012, but he's definitely a rising GOP star.
