Assemblymember Torrico: Governors Budget Is Inhumane and Immoral

(Sacramento) Assembly Majority Floor Leader Alberto Torrico blasted the Governor during a floor debate on a comprehensive budget package. Assembly member Torrico called the Governors proposed all-cuts budget vindictive, immoral, petulant and dumb. Assemblymember Torrico said the Governors revised budget is similar to a two-year-olds temper tantrum that will cost the state billions of dollars in federal funds and hurt real people who rely on the states core services. You're correct, duanescot, there is fraud and corruption within the Social Service programs...just as there is fraud and corruption in EVERY aspect and strata of our society. Is that reason enough to let children, victims of domestic violence, the disabled, the infirm, or the poor become hungry and homeless? We must find other solutions and compromises to solve our fiscal crisis, not steal from those less fortunate than ourselves.

CalWORKs is our nation's most successful welfare program!! Healthy Families provides health insurance for the children and teens of WORKING families!! Lets talk about Torricos failed promises! The Republicans tried to put a spending cap on this States budget and him and his democrats voted it down! This is bullshit! This is dead right! If we cut healthy families my 7 month old grandson will lose his medical. His parents both work but can barely pay bills. If calworks gets cut my other son who was recently shot in the head will not get help to get back into the work force. Both my husband and I who had to close our business last year are out of work. This is a horrible horrible proposal by the governor. I hope people are listening!
