Haka es el nombre genérico para toda la danza maorí. Hoy, el haka se define como esa parte del repertorio maorí de la danza donde están los hombres a la delantera con las mujeres que prestan la ayuda vocal en la parte posterior. La mayoría del haka visto hoy es el taparahi del haka, haka sin las armas.
