The captured soldiers was an excuse only. Israel need pretext to invade South Lebanon. It's possible that the route for the border patrols was deliberately compromise by MOSSAD to hezbollah beforehand to temp Hezbollah into kidnapping them. But when the war goes badly, pressure came from the Israeli public to see that at least the captured soldiers or their remains were returned to their home. And so came the negtiation that Olmert would've never care to do otherwise.

Kuntar's life is not worth more than any other persons...did anyone really win? What about all the villagers in lebanon who lost their life? why was their no commemoration for them in martyr's square in beirut? the focus on 199 bodies/remains and the POW's ..the real losers are the people of the south who lost everything..including their loved ones.

fuck robert frisk hes a bitch

@glenwold But Hezbollah got 199 bags of bones too.

@yngnikko90 Uhh, explain then how we pulverized your country in 2006 and killed 30 times more of you than we lost. Our bombs didn't take shit from you either.
Hezbollah got POWs released including Samir who was locked up for nigh on thirty years. The bodies of fallen resistance fighters were also returned to their families. In return the jews got a bag of bones. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Good comment! Also, Israel failed to take the captured soldiers back (main goal in the Lebanon war in 2006).
