NEC Engineering has developed a wireless module based on ZigBee, a wireless communication standard for complicated mesh sensor networks.
An interactive wireless communication standard, ZigBee has lower electric consumption and lower running costs than Wireless LAN and Bluetooth.
The module is equipped with a sensor port and a controller, so that it can be utilized as a wireless sensor terminal by connecting various sensors.
In other words, with these built-in wireless components, the ZigBee-based module can reduce initial development costs and periods, compared to wireless chips that need to be directly embedded into devices.
Also, the module is equipped with NEC Engineering's unique profiles compatible with ZigBee 2004, allowing for easy control over wireless communication with API commands.

"In the future it will become more prevalent in peoples homes and society in general."

The result is the ease to introduce wireless sensor networks and the reduced time to market ZigBee products.

  • How exactly does it work wirelessly? isit via the satelite signal? and what distances could i cover? could i switch a light on from a switch ina different room via zigbee technology? and isit cheeper than bluetooth, which happens to be 20GBP per bluetooth.

  • its good

  • Yea but when will Zigbee get a standard that everybody can work to, the whole industry needs a standard or standards. Proprietary standards? well there's obviously going to be a split with that and open source.
