Just thought I'd make a little video about my favourite video-game antagonist - Dr. Wallace Breen.
I absolutely Love his incredibly intelligent manner of speech, and his advanced vocabulary.

This should also help those people, who've potentially missed a Breencast or two and want to hear them :D...

Dr. Breen is voiced by Robert Culp (R.I.P.), who did an AMAZING job!
Hats off to Valve for choosing him! :D

The audio track in the beginning is a snip from "Hive - Moves Within Time (1st Movement)"

  • I think the uploader needs to make Dr. and Breen two different tags to add to the video. under 10000 views since 2009? really? Dude you should have had loads more.

  • @kdreamland I appreciate that, but I don't really care about the number of views. But I'll give it a shot, thanks! :D

  • Dr. Breen was a hero. As was Eli Vance. Dr. Wallace Breen saved humanity from extinction during the Seven Hour War by contacting the Combine. He bought humanity time, and when the time came for liberation I suspect he didn't want the resistance to bring the destruction of mankind he prevented.

.. Well, that's my impression, anyway.

  • 1:10 In simpler words: Why did the Combine cockblocked us?

  • Rest In Peace Nicholas Deleon...

  • epic! breens my nigga

  • God I hate them metrocops radios.

  • @NicholasGeschke Indeed, I like them better than humanity, though.

We are going to go extinct before we get anymore visibly Evolved -- that's applied to real life, too. Organisms are designed to decline at some point.

  • @Nemesis0300 I disagree with you there. We are a young race in need of guidance, yes. But to have aliens threaten our race with extinction to ensure compliance is the wrong way to encourage our evolution.

Besides, the Combine don't want what's best for Mankind. They want Earth and its resources, and they think of us as beasts of burden, if that. Were it not for Breen showing that we're capable of rational thought, they likely would have ended up eradicating the entire species outright.

  • @NicholasGeschke Even if you don't agree with me there, you have to agree that Breen is a good guy. He tried to save humanity by making them seem worthy of the Combine's military. If he didn't, humans would all be eradicated.

  • @NicholasGeschke So? Humans enslave animals smaller than us all the time. It's evolutionary and healthy for the Combine to enslave us.

They're better than us; smarter than us; stronger than us. Why would an imperfect and war ridden race try and destroy them? Basic biological impulse -- that's why. If you want to be a slave to neurological presets, than fine. I for one would marvel at the spectacle of beauty that is the Combine. I would join them, too.

Furthermore, Breen was a good guy.

  • @Nemesis0300 If by contention you mean "enslaving mankind for their glory" then yes, that is what they are intending when they put up a suppression field. The reality of it is that they put it up so that humans couldn't reproduce and have any children who would one day rise up aganst them. Even speaking against the Combine results in the death penalty, without trial. Further, the "Civil Protection" units are really more of a secret police. They're really brainwashed, soulless monsters.

  • I was always on Breen and the Combine's side.

Basically, the Combine's contention is that physiological needs must be separated from our lives. Their purpose is out-dated and they no longer register use -- they only damage us.

The Combine aims to replace them with more pragmatic needs, like the need to advance and work -- that way we can be happy and productive.

The Combine's need to "combine" and evolve helps them avoid any killing. That is until Gordon and his R-Tard rebels fucked it up.

  • @kdreamland Thank you! But that's not entirely true. Only the first few Breencasts are presented without a HUD, because you don't have any gear in that part of the game. The rest are recorded carrying the things I had at that point of the game. And the echo was also in-game. The only presentation elements I added myself, were the intro, outro, the introduction and summary to each Breencast, and the music. And I recorded the whole thing with WeGame, if my memory serves me right. :)
