This gal, originally from Toledo, Ohio, was something of a child prodigy touring with the Major Bowes Amateur Hour singing and dancing at the age of 5. She ultimately became a huge jazz and pop vocalist in the 1950's with songs such as this which went to #7 on the pop charts in June of 1956 and stayed there for an astounding four months.

  • Woo ;] I wasn't expecting the strong delivery in this song. Love it~. I can't believe I've been missing out on this type of music. If I hadn't seen the movie "Girl, Interrupted," which had "The End Of The World" by Skeeter Davis, I really wouldn't have known that I'd enjoy "this type" (oldies? I dunno.) of music so much. B'aw, I love how she changes the "personality" of her voice throughout the whole song.

  • @LettuceZing You're having what is called an "epiphany" or an awakening of sorts to a world of sound you have never or seldom listened to...enjoy it. Thanks for the comment...Lanny (Nocaro)

  • I've been hooked on this song ever since hearing it on the tlc police women of broward county commercial

  • It's interesting to me how much great music an entire generation of people have never heard and/or appreciated like this song simply because they have never heard it before or haven't heard it in a long time or they need a VISUAL image to accompany the music in order to "get it" so to speak. You're not the only one who has written me about that commercial which I've never seen.

  • well yeah but i actually listen to songs like this occasionally without having to see it on a commercial.

  • I wasn't speaking of you personally...just making a general observation....thanks for you comments.

  • lol they play this song in a tlc commerical where these tough police women are handling down criminals!

  • It's actually a funny promo because they play the song while these strong armed policewomen are wrestling down and arresting suspects. Lol.
