BayTech camp was held in July 2009 to give rising 5th and 6th graders from tidewater Virginia the opportunity to apply technology to study the Bay. BayTech campers built observing buoys and robotic subs, used GPS units to find an ecocache, and produced a video about their adventures. The camp, part of a 5-year series of weeklong summer camps funded by an anonymous private donor, is hosted by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve program at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
