SportsFavre Situation Still Up in the AirFavre Situation Still Up in the AirThe Associated PressThe standoff between Brett Favre is still simmering, even as training camp begins. Favre who retired last spring has threatened to file for reinstatement and report to camp this week. (July 28)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] ((players coming to practice at Lambeau))The show must go on...even if the status of your most famous player is in limbo. ((players on the field exercising-NFL))The Green Bay Packers held its first summer training camp practice this morning...but Brett Favre was nowhere to be found.((Joe Gaertner/Packers Fan: "I think he should stay away for the time being. He told everybody he was done last March and I think he should stick with it.)) ((Bonny Patzlaff/Packers Fan: I'm not happy. I've been coming to training camp since the 60s..certainly since BF has been a part of the team and it's just not the same.)) ((picture of Favre looking stressed)) Favre and the Green Bay organization are in the middle of a major standoff. ((Packers General Manager Ted Thompson SOT 16 secs: With his retirement and subsequent affirmation of that retirement we've made a commitment to move forward. I'm not saying he's in total agreement but as a football guy he understands that. )) ((rodgers at practice-NFL))The team's moved forward by making Aaron Rodgers their starting quarterback this season.Rodgers says he's doing his best to ignore the controversy. ((recent Favre picture))Meanwhile...Favre has threatened to file for reinstatement with the N-F-L and report to camp this week.((Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy SOT 8 secs:I don't see him coming in here as a problem. BF is a big part of Green Bay's history and he may be a part of the future.)) ((fans in the stands at practice))Many people who've been following the situation view his comeback threat as an attempt to put pressure on the team to trade him.Fans who camped outside of the team's practice are split over where their loyalties lie.((Derek Christiansen/Favre fan: It's a sad situation Granted I'd love for him to come back to the Packers, but if he doesn't come back I'd much rather be a Favre fan than a Packers fan.)) ((Patzlaff: All we can do is hope for the best with Brett but I'll always be a Packers fan)) ((Favre in uniform))There are few things that would have to happen before Favre could step back on any football field-- he'd have to his request approved by the league's commissioner. Then he'd have to pass a team physical.
Favre makes me think of that song by the Clash "Should I stay or should I go."

bigefm,
Probably because Favre still knows the Packers Play List.

People forget that Brett worked and studied his ass off last year, but he's always choked under pressure of the big game and starts throwing wild balls. His best chance of getting to another Superbowl was last season, but he choked (or froze) under pressure. Aaron has a very strong and accurate arm and the Packers wouldn't put all this time, effort and trust in a QB they didn't think was ready to Win Games. We'll miss watching Brett with the Packers But Aaron will be fun to watch also.

If the Packers are so good then why would they be afraid to trade Favre to the Vikings?
bigefm 3 years ago
true, but at the end of the day the only person really effected by the outcome is him.

I don't think he'll pass the physical , he fell apart during his last game and that's what cost the packers the game .
