WTC June visit 2001

On June 10, 2001, we were in New York City on business. Later in the afternoon we went to Wall Street, intent on taking the NY Stock Exchange tour. But we got there too late to get tickets, so instead we decided to go to the top of the World Trade Center, tower 2. It was a pretty quiet day, but it was also gorgeous, as can be seen from the video. I let it drag on until tower 1 comes into view. These views are no longer available, especially looking uptown, beyond the Empire State Building, and beyond. At the time it was taken for granted, but only 3 months later they were gone. I wish I had filmed the personnel manning the building, because to this day I wonder how they fared.

man i'm mad my parents didn't take me up to the Observatory when I was a child. I was about 9 years old when those towers were knocked down. My last memory of seeing WTC was in 1999... I think we were driving west towards China Town and I remember just staring at the towers and asking my parents "What if a plane hits them? Do you think they'd fall?" and my father saying "No, they built those towers to handle a plane impact" The simple irony of me asking that question still haunts me to this day.

@pbyardh doesint that make you feel sick knowing that YOU climbed that tower and in 3 monthes it would be destroyed and also the feeling that you just pasted through deaths shadow that would make me sick to my stomach knowing that fact
