One of the purpose for having MLS is to develop american talent. There are academies springing up in each MLS teams now. It will not happen overnight as the league is only 12yrs old and academies are new. The developmental system needs to improve, mind you that the best american athletes do not go to this sport. We need better coaches as well. It will continue to be considered 2nd division compared to Europe with a salary cap of 2.1M It's going to take time, the sport is not mainstream yet.

baluwa98, wouldn't you think if football (soccer) in the US was the #1 sport it would be much better here? Well it's not, it's not even the #2 sport, nor is it the 3rd or the 4th and if you add college attendance for american football and basketball, not even the 5th or 6th sport attended here. Unlike England or the rest of Europe where football is #1. Therefore, a salary cap is implemented here at 2.1M per team so it does not go bankrupt. Consider the talent with those kind of wages.
