@wafflebowl OK sounds good these things are so powerful they'll blow your mind right in front of your face! I have one now in NS colors.

@backmask2007 O-gauge 3 rail don't have sound decoders. Those are for 2 rail DCC. This is 3 rail DCS and MTH uses a system called Protosound 2 (and the newer PS3) for O gauge. A nice feature of this system is you can download different sound sets (engine, bell whistle, etc) from the internet and load those in the engine if you don't like the factory preset ones.

Why was it revving that much was it hard for it to move this train? Or were you revving it on the DCS system?
-
@wafflebowl MTH Ho stuff (and all other HO companies) have sound decoders in them he probably thought this was HO scale.
-
Now why can't MTH have those tower com recording in their Steam Locomotives like Lionel?
-
Very nice video, well done!
This is MTH's O scale version. Perhaps you thought it was their HO version. In "O", all DCS and Sounds are factory installed in all their protosound 2 (and now 3) engines.

I was new to DCS and I was getting to know all the settings, DCS has a "REV UP", and also a "REV Down". I was just playing with the settings.

Hi Bassfanatic, well...they do, all my MTH Steamers have announcements, some have passenger announcements(N&W 611 J), some hav freight announcements. The announcements in the Steamers are quite differant then whats heard from the modern deisels. You gotta remember that radio communication is the norm today with deisels, but in the Steamer era it was more of a "yell from the cab" type of thing. But to answer your question, yes they do have announcements in their Steamers.

does the sound still work with a regular transformer like the one's you get with the train sets or do you need the DCS system?

Sorry it so long to respond. DCS is not nessesary for the sounds. DCC gives you wireless remote, plus access to more functions, and access some others much easier. Try to find a hobby shop that can give you a demo with the DCS (ask to operate it yourself) and you will see the benifits. Then you can decide if it's something that's for you.
Thanks for the question.
