@camrothery Actually they are. They gave them a straight taper, with a brass ferrule and joint. The spliced style is simply the predominant type, not a requirement.

i won 3 tournaments in california just using house cues.

ya, that might be right. i remember i entered a pool tournament filled up with almost 64 players, i picked a house-cue (i didnt have a pool cue, coz i do play snooker), and made it to the semis. i had to quit that match, coz i had to go to work ;P
many other players had cues about 600 € and i beat them with a 40€ stick. that was funny at all :)

for pool it dosen't matter since the pockets are like buckets and the table like a child's toy.
you can basically use a broomstick, glue a piece of round felt on the end and still be a champion.

@Ruvinio These were mainly predator cues. That's one of the reasons why I don't like predator
