I think a lot of the people overpraising Drive haven't seen Le Samourai or Michael Mann's Thief, each better thrillers about criminals.

@captain07234 Agreed, I liked "Drive" but I found it slightly bizarre. The director was trying to showcase or cram many styles and techniques into a thin story.
-
Yeah, Drive was overrated and the "coolness" of Gosling's character was forced. I also had trouble buying him as a tough guy. I also got the feeling with Drive the director wasn't telling a story so much as saying 'Look at what a great director I am.'

@jucurtis23 Well, yeah, except this guy is cooler and this movie is better

@teratophobia Jef Costello who is Alain Delon. epitome of class and therefore cool
Great movie. I enjoyed seeing the Paris of that time, 1967 and the interiors, subway, cars, telephones etc.

Look closely at Jef Costello. He's the man all yer Jason Stathams, yer Vin Diesels, and yer Bruce Willises aspire to be. He is the epitome of cool.
