I have said this before to Makers of AMV's about this show but. Have you read the Manga for Mai Hime? The plot is almost completely different. Same characters but their relationships and interactions are different due to the different plot. I was confused as hell when I watched the anime (I read the manga first before I realized that the anime was different). It's worth a read though

@rdraken I was aware of the manga, but I've never cared for it, or the Mai-Otome manga (the anime of each came first, btw). Mostly, it's because the manga of both kind of took away the purpose--the anime were very much about the strong female leads, but the manga focused on male characters, even creating a new one in Mai-Otome, and then had the girls squabbling and fighting over the guys or playing major antagonists.

Basically, I feel the manga appease male ego. I don't care for it. No offense.

Well, I certainly feel the need to reply: the powers of the HiME are tied into her feelings for her most important person. If that person is gone, the HiME's powers go with it. However, facing each other, the HiME only target one another or the Childs (yes, I know the plural can be a tad "confusing"), which is why this is never truly demonstrated, but even before the ties were confirmed, it was evidenced that Mai should've lost her power when Takumi died, but her feelings had already changed.

Awesome amv, I agree with the opinion stated about the manga, I find the anime to be a much more enjoyable story, I like the shots of the HiME regaining what they lost after having suffered so much (Akane in particular, and the look on Nao's face makes me feel warm and fuzzy).

Also am I the only one who got choked up when Kagutsuchi dissapeared?

@KamuiGuardian None taken. And i do agree. I personally preferred the anime after getting a grasp on the differences. That and the anime was released first in the HIME series. and personally i don't like the look Otome so i never actually watched it.
