That's a rare clip of Mifune. Marvelous! He's so quick! He doesn't give his opponent any time to react to his change of direction, and throws uke right into the hole left by uke's movement. This reminds me of Uesheba, and is how the experts in both judo and akido do judo. It's really effortless, and really cool to watch. It really messes with your brain to get thrown by one of those guys.

@CommodoreDixon Modern seoi otoshi looks alitle bit different. Now is more about pulling opponent by your leg, less about trowing

@tambietem whats the different morote from
ippon?

@theguyi26 in tai otoshi, a knee can be broken if the move isn't done correctly, a friend of mine got injured really bad by a bad tori, and she had surgery and she recovered but she can no longer practice judo because of the seriousness of the injury.. so it's true, if is not done well, it's like a stand-kneebar

AWESOMEEEEEEEE
going for my orange belt on thursday :)

@theguyi26 depends on how hard you go. if you slam your knees right into the mat when trying to pull it off, then yeah, you can say they're bad for 'em haha :D
-
@theguyi26 When it's performed correctly, the natural resistance of your opponent breaks your fall and it doesn't take much power to perform the move. The key is that you learn the move correctly from a experienced Judoka that will also encourage you to properly stretch out.

I heard these throws (in the first half of the video) are bad for the knees. true or false

@CommodoreDixon @1. otoshi means pull down. different of seoi-otoshi and morote seoi is your knee not leave the tatami. If your knee leave the tatami it become morote, not seoi-otoshi. @2. seoi-nage include 2 technis are ippon-seoi-nage and morote-seoi-nage. Some where call morote same as seoi-nage. dear

@quutamo87 They are thrown with that force, if you do it right, it is completely effortless.
And once you can breakfall, it does not feel like anything.
