The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim", The word also implies "peace" which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) I in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form.

Islam is the religion which was given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind. The name of God's religion lslam was not decided upon by later generations of man. It was chosen by Allah Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man. In the final book of divine revelation, the Qur'aan, Allah states the following:

"This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion". (Soorah Al-Maa'idah 5:3)
"If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah (God) never will It be accepted of Him" (Soorah Aal'imraan 3:85)
"Abraham was not a Jew nor Christian; but an upright Muslim." (Soorah Aal'imraan 3:67)
Nowhere in the Bible will you find Allah saying to Prophet Moses' people or their descendants that their religion is Judaism, nor to the followers of Christ that their religion is Christianity. In fact, Christ was not even his name, nor was it Jesus! The name "Christ" comes from the Greek word Christos which means the annointed. That is, Christ is a Greek translation of the Hebrew title "Messiah". The name "Jesus" on the other hand, is a latinized version of the Hebrew name Esau.

For simplicity's sake, I will however continue to refer to Prophet Esau (PBUH) as Jesus. As for his religion, it was what he called his followers to. Like the prophets before him, he called the people to surrender their will to the will of Allah; (which is Islam) and he warned them to stay away from the false gods of human imagination.

According to the New Testament, he taught his followers to pray as follows: "Yours will be done on earth as it is in Heaven".

@melesnawy He didnt hate them, and gave them great statues as dhimmies. That is why Judaism is thriving in South of saudi Arabia and yemen and so coarse in Iraq and Iran. Right ?

@melesnawy OK KHADIJA'S COUSIN was a Christian but she remained a pagan till she met Mohamed and Mohamed changed her to understand the teachings of Issa ( Christ ). So many ARABS refused to convert to Christianity although they mixed up with Christians and traded with them for at least 200 years. Khadija's cousin may have possibly tried to make her a Christian anyway. It means Christianity was known to KHADIJA and even MOHAMED.before he was 40 years old. CONFIRMED.

@Killayut Christianity was not popular in Arabia, especially in Mecca, but they knew and acknowledged them, many arabs werenot christians and some who werent christians didnt worship pagans, like mohamed, khadija and abu bakr

@Killayut prophet mohammed didnt hate the jews, if he did he wouldnt have let them live in his city in the first place, but then when they betrayed him, things changed, and didnt persecute every jew that lived in Medina, he only presecuted the ones the commited treason

@Killayut in fact when mohammed came to medina, the majority of the ppl swore allegiance to him and so he was the elected leader by the majority of medina, he then set up an agreement with the jews that they live with the muslims as long as they dont aid a foreign force on Medina, and when some tried to kill those ppl and didnt take away their money, and then later when they were surronded by the meccians trying to invade the Medina, the jews left in medina took up arms with the meccans

@Killayut khadija didnt follow christianity. thats well known fact. she was a business woman and mohamed worked for her and she was impressed by him and she proposed to him not the other way round she was 15 yrs older than him and there was no jews in Mecca, they were only in medina and when the jews plotted to kill him he exiled the ppl who tried to kill him and let them leave with their money. he didnt persecute them coz they were simply jews. that didntt happen,

@melesnawy WARQA the Christian was KHADIJA'S cousin. Interesting. so Khadija knew about Christianity too. Mohamed obviously was influenced by the beautiful KHADIJA and turned to follow God the Christian way but Mohamed was too bitter about the oppression of his people by the Jews so he became a rebel leader against Jewish authority telling his people that the Jews were Hypocrites who use God to discriminate the ARABS..

@melesnawy KNOWLEDGE is different from acceptance. He never accepted is the right word but to say he never knew means even non of the people he met was a Christian or Jew.It is even said his uncle with whom he lived as an orphan was a Catholic and even KHADIJA herself was a Catholic. He simply never accepted the Jewish principles untill he was 40 when God called him or when he accepted.Hence his respect for ISSA ( Christ ) .

@4023631 The Quran was the purported words of Mohamed written down by people who claimed to have memorized his words. Teachings of Mohamed is translation of Jewish and Christian teachings cos Mohamed never mentioned angel, a system a prophet or a God in his teachings that was never mentioned by Jews and Christians so Mohamed never brought any thing new .It then means the Quran is not binding cos its got no new news or new principle that was never taught by Jews and Christians
