This is a narrated video walkthrough of the NES game Ultima Exodus. It is split into 20 segments and spans roughly 2 3/4 hours. I first recorded the video then added the narration on top of it and even after the narration, I've made a few more discoveries of tips and tricks, explained as needed in this description.

The fifteenth part is where I finish maxing out the stats, Curie's strength especially, then going into the first cave. I explain how to navigate through the caves. We also get our first mark as well, of which I later found, after creating the video and vocal track, is present in many caves, at least 3 so far (2 others). We also get another tool that is essential to have, the silver pick.

  • I do remember getting the ship once, but I think at my age then I didn't know what to do with it.

I never knew most of the stuff shown in these videos (maybe most importantly that Gems show the map (always got lost in the caves)), and the spinning in a circle to recover MP would've made my life easier 15 years ago!

  • There's also the cleric's "map" spell, for 55 MP. As usual, spin around in circles to restore the MP as needed (just, hopefully you won't get dizzy).

  • I knew the gold cheat, make new characters, give gold to a permanent character, delete, make new, repeat.

I found myself stocking up Slingshots and food, but couldn't figure out what to do after leveling to a certain point. The enemies got ridiculously hard. I didn't see the point to having the horses (what are they for anyway?); they're horribly expensive!

  • I think the horses are used to avoid battles, though I don't exactly know (I've never used them.). As for gold, there's a much, much faster way. See my "20,000 gold an hour" video for details. You'd have to create 200 characters an hour (more than 3 a minute) to get that kind of rate. This requires further progress in the game though in order to make use of so the character creation thing still works well at least for the early part.

  • I was trying to post and it kept saying, Error, Try Again. Anyone know what's up with that?

  • @ulillillia The Horses cut down on the rate of food consumption, Uli. They pay for themselves that way. Other than that, there's nothing special about them.

  • I hade the king pop up as a enemie in this cave is that a glich?

  • Now it let's me post...WTF!

  • When I first played this game, I had no idea how to get gold and if I did, I always had to deal with poison and cold and having to constantly heal. Enemies weren't a problem though until I hit level 5. I also had no idea about the ship either. The enemies you see with level 5 are frightfully powerful so always avoided them. I just consulted a random GameFAQs guide to get unstuck when needed. Be sure to make use of the 20,000 gold an hour method too.
