this is me playing live in buzztracker

updated! ok, sorry i never got back to many of the questions asked in the comments! but i'm doing so now.

there is some preperation involved, yes. you have to have all the parts you want composed first and then you improvise with them. i see it similar to the early days of composing with a table full of synced gear and you play with the mix, aux effects, patterns, etc. this track is a fairly simple live setup

the melodies were made with the ZX7 and Primifun, and the pad was made with Infector. the drums are the 808, 909 and a loop in MTrk. the textures, played in another Mtrk, are some crushed nuts i got from a sample pack made by Leafcutter John about 7 or 8 years ago.

I've never used midi controllers. i've done everything with mouse and computer keyboard.

it does sound a bit like BOC, but i honestly only listened to a full album of BOC last year. i really like BOC now, but i've never been influenced by them. my influence stemmed mainly from the Propellerhead Rebirth 1.5 scene and Squarepusher.

that's might be too much info, but i felt i shouldn't be rude and not address the questions in the comments for so long!

thanks all!

  • @mutepg58 Newbuzz is TOTALLY stable and ROCKS

  • I just remembered this video while surfing gratissoft . de (it's a german download directory and this video is embedded there as an example of Buzz in action).

That tracks rocks like hell. How could I forget about this track? Shame on me. Ripping a mp3 right now. :)

  • Technically it's Windows only. But it runs perfectly on Wine. The funny thing is: It runs better in Wine than in Windows. ;)

  • actually, buzz has been in development again since 2008. google jeskola ;)

  • This track is really cool man, I'm a massive Boards fan but it's pretty unique at the same time :)

  • my first program to compose music, it reminds me of back when i was only 10 years old!
