Jackie Gleason is probably the only performer who could combine his own personality with his acting ability and deliver such monumental results.
I saw this film for the first time at age 13 and have never forgotten it. A stellar example of what the Internet can bring--Gigot to the masses.

The role of a lifetime. Jackie Gleason at the peak of his powers.
I remember him telling an interesting story about being in Paris during the shooting- It was between seens and he walked off the set and into a small bakery to get something to eat. The owner threw Jackie out of his place, calling Jackie a bum. Evidentally, the owner did not know who he was or that a film was being shot a few blocks away from his store.
True Story.
