Betty's Triple Orange Gelatin Salad Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a colorful and tasty side dish, her Triple Orange Gelatin Salad. It is made of orange Jello, crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges, orange sherbet, and whipped topping. Anything with those ingredients has to taste good!

Ingredients:

2 small packages or 1 large package orange Jello (I used [2] 0.3-oz. sugar-free packages orange Jello.)
1 cup boiling water
(2) 11-oz. cans mandarin oranges, drained
8 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
1 pint orange sherbet, partially thawed
4 to 4 1/2 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed

In a large bowl, mix 1 cup boiling water with 2 small packages or 1 large package orange Jello. Stir until Jello is dissolved. Add (2) 11-oz. cans drained mandarin oranges, and stir well. Add 8 oz. can drained crushed pineapple, and stir well. Next, stir in 1 pint partially thawed orange sherbet. Finally, gently fold in 4 to 4 1/2 oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed. Pour entire mixture into a nice serving bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until salad is jelled. Serve by spooning a serving onto a nice salad plate. Hi Betty, I was just wondering -- can this be poured into a pie crust and made into a (cold) pie form?

@bee5120 Yes, it would make a lovely pie. It does gel up to be a soft gel, so don't expect a wedge of pie to maintain crisp, clean edges.

I am an orange fanatic and this is just a great combination of all (or almost) all things citrus and orange. Looks like such a refreshing and sweet desert for any ocasion. I think I've seen a salad like this except that it was layered instead of all mixed in. But still looks and tastes delicious.
