Two of the labs were roaming the street again after somebody had the gate open all afternoon. It appears he had no clue the dogs were loose until the one dog started barking at the two that were outside. This is just a few minutes out of 35 minutes of barking. At least the dogs didn't crap in our yard while they were out for their late night stroll. That's a first.
@rippersnapper1 Here, we have to log time & duration of barking for a week before AC gives a warning. The barking doesn't bother me as much as the feces & even worse, the vicious dogs. The 2 labs directly across the street were penned up in the house almost 24/7 after we filed a formal complaint regarding the dog feces in our yard. They'd get out in the morning for maybe 2 minutes, then let out the front door at night. One of those dogs has since died.

@TiredofDogs No, I agree with you. My neighbors want a "guard dog" to keep their "valuables" safe - the dogs aren't considered valuable to them - they are kept in the yard 24/7 in all sorts of weather. The other night it was 30 below! Their garage is HEATED but the dogs have NO access to it. The dogs bark at everything at all hours and they are convinced the dogs are doing a GOOD thing. We had to switch bedrooms just to sleep. According to AC there isn't a barking problem unless they see it

@rippersnapper1--Not just irresponsible, they think their dogs have rights that supercede our rights as homeowners. Here, you see the black labs across the street, always just let out the front door & crapping in everyone's yard. The barking dog is the next neighbor, who has a chow, an Akita mix, & 4 other dogs. IMO dogs are like children, in that if you have them, you have a responsibility to care for them, socialize them, vaccinate them, and teach them.

Loose dogs AND barking dogs are breaking the law. Yes, dogs bark, but they can be taught to be quiet - and they should be.
It all boils down to irresponsible dog owners...

TokyoJazz removed his comment: "Why do people complain about dogs barking? I mean thats what they do. Dogs bark, cats meow, cows moo." Our complaint is not with the dog barking, but with the dogs running loose. We've been cleaning up these peoples' dogs messes from the day we bought our home.
