Following "Stand or Fall", "Red Skies", "Saved By Zero" and "One Thing Leads To Another", this was the next hit by The Fixx. The song peaked at #32 on the U.S. pop chart on 1/14/84 and at #20 a week later on the U.S. rock chart. It is from the platinum-selling album "Reach the Beach".

Great song in the best tradition of The Fixx music and lyrics. They always had a great way of the lyrics and the rhythm/melody matching perfectly. (How many songs have you heard and said "great music, stupid lyrics" and vice-versa? They weren't by The Fixx.) The Kings of Alternate.

if this song could only get # 32 and then bested at #20 the folks must have been listening on garbage sound systems. if this stuff was on these days the radio listeners would think, "huh--what"?---because they think today,s stuff is music,---very sad---

Should have been #1, what is wrong with people's taste in music? The Fixx rock and are super-creative!

So what exactly is the story or meaning behind the lyrics of this song, also is there a instrumental version of this song?
