Ravenna Seattle Washington Real Estate
Ravenna
From west to east, this segment of Seattle's north end ranges from modest bungalows and university faculty homes in Ravenna to the nicer neighborhoods of Laurelhurst and Windermere, where mini-mansions command impressive views of Lake Washington and the Cascades. The residents worry about traffic generated by nearby institutions or threatened by widening of the state Route 520 bridge across the lake. Before the arrival of settlers from the United States, the principal geographic feature of the area now called Ravenna was a creek draining the waters of Green Lake into Union Bay.
Ravenna is a neighborhood in northeastern Seattle, Washington, named after Ravenna, Italy. The neighborhood is mostly residential, with several businesses located along the busiest streets, in addition to University Village Shopping Center. Many of the residents are graduate students at the University of Washington, which is about a mile or two to the south. Its main distinction is the restored Cowen Park-Ravenna Park, which is near the popular walking or biking route between Green Lake and the Burke-Gilman Trail near University Village.
