Elvis always hated being called that. In every interview i've ever seen- they say other wise.
-
@DH1986 He did, Him and Jerry Lee used to argue over it :L

How can you possibly perform such a song in front of a sitting crowd ??
-
@mrpresidentish good!

@19chiefs57 I agree that Jones has one of the best set of pipes ever but he has aged really much. He has preserved his voice really well for his agre and can still glide up there. This wasn't his best performance but certainly not bad. He stood on key, etc.
-
@GoodGuitarSolos nah his voice is so not in tune,i mean the voice should be younger and sharper,like mine,better for a young person to do it,cant seem to get why old ppl like him do jailhouse rock with thier voice.

I listened again, sans cotton in my ears, he's definitely got Laryngitis. He is not off-key, but the performance is clearly not one of his best. He's simply not in voice, so saying he "nailed it" is definitely over the top. Ask someone who is a neutral listener, not a Jones-die-hard and I'm sure they'll hear it right away. BTW when he is IN voice, he has one of the best set of pipes ever.

@TheJurneyMan Haha, it would definitely be interesting... Cornell is fantastic vocalist, so is Jones. (I could actually see Jones covering Cornell's "When I'm Down", that would suit him pretty well.)

@rockinrodney5000 Post your video then, I'm not going to believe you otherwise.
He does NOT do it badly. You don't have to like it but give some respect: he nails all the notes and sounds clean and all. It is technically good performance, period.
-
@19chiefs57 Pfff, this is an awesome performance and he nails all the notes.
tom jones was fantastic

Elvis is about the only person to not proclaim himself anything, he never said he was the king. Little Richard,Jerry Lee lewis are the ones that got jealous and named themselves that. Plus Elvis versions are very fast.
