This my entry to BCHydro's "Invent The Future" contest 2009, done using the stylistic motion graphics technique known as Kinetic Typography.

The basic idea I'm trying to get across here is that since Science has proven that energy can only be transformed (not created or destroyed) why not put a generator on each axle of a car with a rechargeable battery connected to it. Then the kinetic energy created by the wheels spinning could be converted to electric energy and stored in the battery. When you get home you plug the battery into a larger battery and store the energy at home. Then the electricity is transferred, through the same cables that bring electricity to your house, back to the power company, and at the end of the month the amount you pay for your power bill is reduced by however much energy you send back to the power company.

  • Okay, I just ready why it doesn't work, all kids come up with this idea one time or another but the energy from the fuel is all used to spin the axles of the car, energy can not be created or destroyed, the axle spins the wheels and the force of friction on the wheels to road forces the car forward, the only time energy is wasted and turned into heat is when the breaks are applied, the idea is to place the generators in the brakes so the momentum of the car goes straight into the generators...

  • BUT... if you can come up with a cheap way to achieve this idea, you could patent it and make MILLIONS, not just $2500.

  • Dude you made a great video, but unfortunately... this idea has already been used, I know how you feel cause I had this idea too a while ago, I was so excited and planning on patenting it and everything, but in a "Popular Science" magazine article, it told us they already had a working prototype of this idea on every single wheel, the only problem is that it's really expensive. (I'll try to send you the link to the article) But some amazing editing skills you got there :D
