  • I find it more comfortable with the hand rest reversed. It is more ergonomic for my hand.

  • Good question. Usually you support the bassoon with the palm of your left hand and particularly with the left hand index finger joints nearest the hand. I also use another method of supporting the bassoon other than the seat strap. I used to had a neck strap but now I am using a harness that goes around my chest and then hooks to the balance hanger on the basoson.

  • the only time i really ever use half hole is on g and even then when i put my finger center or take it off it sounds the same and wat in the world is f#3

  • For octave designations please see my video "Octave Designations in Music" on Youtube.. I use the common system taught in America, established by the Acoustical Society of America.

i consider the half hole technique essential for proper tuning and articulation. I hear a BIG difference when it is applied.

  • I might be getting a new bassoon this thursday, what bocal should i buy fist, 1 2 or 3

  • Sorry for the late reply. Use the bocal that is best in tune. Most use a Heckel 2 or a Fox 3.

  • i have a question, i thought the bulkier part of the hand rest was supposed to be on the outside of the hand in the dent between the thumb and forefinger?

  • @tewelltube ah thank you very much and thank you for these videos they have helped me tremendously...

  • I had a question that you could hopefully answer. When I play open F (F3 i believe) I have the problem on the weight of the bassoon pulling forwards and because my hands aren't covering any of the holes I was wondering where do you rest the weight?

  • What song r u playing at the Beggining

  • Thank you for this video! It was very eye-opening for me. I have smaller hands, and you've tought me through this video how to maximize the length I do in my fingers. I never would have thought to give preferences to my joints like that. It makes complete sense! Thank you!

  • This is a very interesting video.... I play the alto and C-melody saxophone. The bassoon looks so confusing but this is a very interesting video to me as ive never really seen a bassoon up close
