In this, the 2nd part of this series we take a look at recentley re-streamlined 6229 Duchess of Hamilton. It's nice to actually now see one again, & to compare it to the LNER A4 Mallard. So folks which do you like best, Mallard or Hamilton?? Many thanks to the NRM & also the folks that have done all the work on Hamilton.Cheers.

  • The A4 streamling looks better to my eye. However, the crimson and gold is a stronger color combination. I'm partial to LNER locos more than LMS.

  • Both fine looking beasts, but which to choose??

  • i prefer the a4s but the corination scotts just look out standing compared with any other streamliner of its period great vid 5 stars :)

  • Thank you.Yes it's good now that we can compare both side by side. Hat's off to the team that re-streamlined Hamilton. Cheers.

  • Mallard FTW. Gresley was always superior - his streamline casing didn't add too much weight and didn't hinder maintenance as much as Stanier's

  • A very classy looking beast :-) cheers.

  • Yes, that's quite right. Must of been amazing to of been around & seen these loco's really go for it back then. Cheers.

  • If I am correct there was speed competition between the LNER and the LMS from London to Scotland. The streamlined 8P on the LMS and the Gresley A4 on the LNER

  • Thank you, cheers.

  • great video mate 5 stars and fav
