Axl Rose - The Prettiest Star is the first ever documentary to reveal the true story of Axls life and career, from his earliest days growing up in Lafayette, Indiana, through his escape from abuse and neglect via music and onto his incredible success with Guns N Roses. The film continues by documenting Axls more recent activities including the recording of the eagerly anticipated Chinese Democracy album. It includes previously unseen film footage of both Axl and Guns N Roses, exclusive in-depth interviews with those who have worked closely with Axl during his life and career.

Willam Rose was a kid who grew up in Indiana and dreamed of escaping his abusive household and some day becoming a rock star. Unlike most kids with these sorts of ambitions William's dreams came true -- he moved to Los Angeles formed a band called Guns 'n Roses with his best friend, and changed his name to Axl Rose. Axl Rose: The Prettiest Star is a documentary which looks at Rose long, hard climb to the top of the music business, and the rocky road he found once he became famous. The film includes interviews with friends and collaborators of Rose, but was created without his participation or authorization.

  • Axl is a complex man.

In many ways he is awesome. In other ways he`s a relentless asshole.

He really got a Messiah complex during the Use Your Illusion era. And after that he crashed and burned, just like he sings about. (Nightrain on AFD)

  • Axl got vwery spoilt over the years and he just became an ass... But he's still sooo hott♥

  • FUCK AXL ROSE!

  • @ausriuxas Ass, I think not, many have said he is sweetest person you could meet. Hottt, abso- f@#kin- lutely!!

  • @atogers his ego became too huge

Agreed, this is a very poorly constructed documentary. I read a three page (small print) article a few years back that was infinitely more entertaining, and had better factual material about Axl, the man, than this sad production. The only worthwhile contributor is Malcolm Dome and even he hasn't written anything about Gn'R in almost 15 years.

  • I seem to remember James Hetfield (a member of Metallica said this anyway, I'm pretty sure but not certain that it was James), saying that when Axl took his psychotropic medications he was the coolest, smartest and sweetest guy that you could hope to meet but, like the mistake that many people with organic mental concerns make, once he was feeling good he would stop taking the pills and turn into a raving asshole again.

Axl has mental concerns that need to be medicated, it's as simple as that.

  • @atogers you are absolutely right but I think Nightrain is a whole different story - it's a song about drinking and drugs

  • UYI was a non-event, let`s embrace the reality, GNR were a 1 LP band = AFD, that was it, they ran dry creatively in `88/89 & the rest was just touring for $, bitching at each other & waiting to implode.

  • @atogers agreed, except that during the UYI era, he was going through a very hard time...just note the lyrics & even the videos. IMO, this was the last of their good albums.

All these artists from Indiana (Axl, Michael Jackson, etc) become reclusive, paranoid & control freaks! (just joking, I lived in IN).

  • Slash 5:04 isn't camera friendly.
