it has its own water pump. you fit the device in 1 of 3 different ways. The simplest being to simply cut the water coolant hose before the vehicle heat exchanger and plumb in the device.
The engine can be off and virtually freezing cold and the heater will still fire up, start pumping water, start its heater plug, start fueling, draw air in even faster and then really get going.
i have one &it turns on whilst i am asleep and warms the veg and diesel fuel systems plus warming the cab

i am using these heaters in my truck from 10 years . there is small electric water pump built in heater .whole heater works on car battery but it takes only few amps .actualy it will extend battery life also,
