Viren runs like a deer and they never lose

@Pepshort Coleman's voice is an essential part of the history of track and field.
-
@mahtivaari72 It is sad, that when one does a great performance, the ones that were beaten have to resort to the "doping" accusations.
-
Mariano Haro (4th) has often accused Viren of doping even though there is no evidence of that. This video is excellent example of why Haro still feels so bitter for Viren.

@number17bus -- I checked out the video you suggested. Thanks -- David Coleman was great there, also

@Pepshort David Coleman of the BBC. His commentary on the 5,000 metres final is fantastic too - look for 'Steve Prefontaine 1972 Munich Olympic 5000m Final' on YouTube.

This announcer was outstanding -- 'Shorter grimly holding on' -- I loved it! Who was he?
-
great effort by Puttemans btw, no doubt.
Viren is so smooth. Never looked like losing.

So true. Viren had the smoothest running style in the world and a heart twice as large as most runners; his training for this Olympic final was perfect, and execution was phenomenal, even falling midway and losing what appeared to be an insurmountable distance.
