(Excerpt)
Part of Lux Radio Theater produced by Cecil B. DeMille.

Frank plays "The Phantom Troubadour" and sings "Dancing In The Dark".

Marilyn Maxwell was not only gorgeous looking but with a speaking voice to match!

Frank was very lucky indeed to share acting duties with such beautiful (and talented!) women.

BTW, Mr. DeMille was spot on in his prediction of Frank's staying power. He certainly did last!

Dig the "curtain call" section at the end with Frank playing jokes on Bing. Specially funny given that Bob Crosby (Bing's brother) participated in this episode.

  • This is the first time I hear this eary version of "Dancing in the dark". Thank you for posting!

  • Yes, it is indeed little known, except for those who listen to old time radio shows. Hence my interest in highlighting it in this clip. Thanks for your comment!

  • can't blame frank for going after her...she was very hot back then

  • He sang Dancing in the Dark SO BEAUTIFULLY!

  • Frank Sinatra! Bob Crosby! awwwwwwwwww

  • Yes he had a great love affair with her and even thought of leaving his wife for her as Tina revealed in her book.

  • I guess this was when Frank had his affair with Marilyn Maxwell.

  • Thanks for the info just this week I got a message from Meredith Noel who went to school with Matt & is trying to find him. Did you know her? I found the band he was with & tried to contact him thru that site as did she, but with no luck.

I would love an update on his line, photos etc for my family history book.

    Thanks again.

  • Not sure if you were able to find Matt. I went to School with him but lost touch about 10 years ago. If you are still looking for him, contact Steven Stern in San Diego. He owns Lorna's Italian Kitchen and can be reached there most days. He is one of Matt's closest friends and keeps in touch with him. 858-452-0661 Good luck.

  • How wonderful to hear that theme music...it brings back such great memories of the golden age of radio. Marilyn Maxwell was my cousin, does anyone know what happened to her son Matthew Davis. I am trying to updating this line for my family history book. Any information will be appreciated.

  • This is wonderful, truly wonderful...
